How to Create a Private Post And Password Protected Post in WordPress

If you’re wondering that what is a private post in WordPress and what it its use in real blogging? While creating a private post we use Private post feature of WordPress which includes premium content, photos or files which must not be shared with anyone other than some specific users.

A private post in WordPress is not visible to the public. Only logged in users with right permissions can see it among your blog posts.WordPress provides many useful features and this is one of them. It enables you to hide a post from the regular visitors and let some specific logged in users to show.

How to Create a Private Post in WordPress

Private WordPress posts lock all unauthorized users out of that content. Only certain logged-in users can navigate to the post and view what’s on it.

To create your first private post, you have to create a new post or you can also use this feature in an existing post.

On the post edit screen, you need to click on the ‘Edit’ link next to the ‘Visibility’ option in ‘Publish’ meta box.

Now you’ll see three option public, password protected & private. You have to select the private option to make that post private.

Now you can finish the post by publishing it on your WordPress site.Once you done with the editting, you can visit your website where you can see your private post.

You can see the difference in both images, the first image shows the private post can be seen by the logged in the users.

How to Create a Password Protected Post in WordPress

The process of creating a password protected post in WordPress is similar to the “Private Post”.You just have to log in to your WordPress dashboard and start writing your post.

Once you complete your post which you want to protect using a password, go to the post edit screen, you need to click on the ‘Edit’ link next to the ‘Visibility’ option in ‘Publish’ meta box.

Now you’ll see three option public, password protected & private.You have to select the Password protected to make that post password protected.

Now enter the desired password which you can use to read the post easily. You can see in the screenshot that you need to enter the password to read that post.
